All of these numbers stem from one problem: A lack of compassion. And that one problem stems from one root cause: A lack of humane education for children. Humane education enables children to grow up to be compassionate, kind, and ethical adults.
The majority of schools in the U.S. have a primary focus on main academic content and very little concentration on nurturing compassion and creating respect for animals, each other, and our planet. In the U.S., only 9 states actually have laws that require Humane/Empathy Education be taught in the public school system. The issue with these requirements, however, is that they do not come close to offering the level of in-depth and hands-on education that impacts a child’s mind and emotions, creating a lifelong development of compassion and the desire to take action.
The only way to create a compassionate adult is to instill that quality as a child. Plain and simple, compassion is taught. We are all born with the capacity for compassion but it needs to be nurtured and guided.
Therefore, Kind In The Making intends to teach compassion to as many children as possible. With a hands-on and honest journey through animal rescue and rehabilitation, children learn empathy and understanding, critical thinking, and confidence that will stay with them for a lifetime.
